CCS and AITVN co-hosted the Dissemination Workshop for Eco-Innovation project in Vietnam
Eco-Innovation project is a global project with the aim to support governments in promoting Sustainable Consumption and Production as well as efficient use of natural resources through assisting and encouraging policies on innovation in SMEs. The project also put into test the Eco Innovation Toolkit to assist SMEs in transforming the strategies and business model towards sustainability, thereby improving their profitability and competitiveness on the market. The project was carried out in eight countries and three continents.
In Vietnam, Centre for Creativity and Sustainability Study and consultancy (CCS) and the Asian Institute of Technology in Vietnam (AITVN) is the two selected units to implement the project, including: (1) Pilot component for Eco-Innovation package application at 07 SMEs in agricultural production and food processing industry and (2) Policy component for mainstreaming Eco-Innovation into current government policies related to Sustainable Consumption and Production in Vietnam.
After two years of implementation, the project “Eco-Innovation in Vietnam” coordinated by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and funded by European Commission (EC), the Center for Creativity and Sustainability Study and Consultancy (CCS) and Asian Institute of Technology in Vietnam (AITVN) to be implementation bodies, has gained certain achievements in contributing to sustainable development in Vietnam. For the dissemination and scaling-up of this success, CCS and AITVN co-hosted the Dissemination workshop for “Eco-Innovation project in Vietnam” on December 8th, 2016 at Pullman Hanoi Hotel. Besides representatives of UNEP, CCS and AITVN, the workshop also received attendance from numerous project partners, donors and beneficiaries.
The workshop reported on the results of applying Eco-Innovation to revenue and the competitiveness of 07 selected enterprises. At the same time, research results of Eco-Innovation mainstreaming in the current policy framework were also presented. The workshop was a platform to discuss and exchange opinions amongst enterprises, development organizations, research institutes, universities, strategy institutes, policy bodies, the central and provincial departments, etc. on implementing Eco-Innovation as well as Sustainable Consumption and Production.
